Today, on 29 May 2021, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania together with the “Green Revolution” organized a bicycle race on the occasion of World Bicycle Day and the 30th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan, at one of the central parks of Bucharest.
The event was attended by Turkmen students studying in Romania, staff of the Turkmen Embassy, as well as the “Green Revolution”.
Speaking at the opening of the event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Romania, A. Annayev, noted that Turkmenistan, under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attaches great importance to the development of sports and physical culture in Turkmenistan.
Also, the President of the “Green Revolution”, Mrs. Raluca Fiser, noted that on April 12, 2018, the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution “June 3 – World Bicycle Day” on the initiative of Turkmenistan. At the same time, Mrs. Fiser highly appreciated the positive cooperation between her organization and the Turkmen side.
Turkmen Carpet Day in Bucharest
On 27 May 2021, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, together with the Romanian National Peasant Museum, held an event dedicated to Turkmen carpets, and also organized the opening ceremony of a festive national-cultural exhibition dedicated to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan, the proclamation of 2021 „Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Peace and Trust”, as well as on the occasion of the Day of the Turkmen Carpet.

The event was attended by about 50 people, including officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, accredited Ambassadors and diplomats in Romania, representatives of Romanian enterprises and institutions, as well as Turkmen students studying in Bucharest.
The guests were addressed by Mr. Virgil-Stefan Nitulescu, Manager of the Romanian National Peasant Museum, Mr. A.Annayev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Romania, and Mr. Costel-Cristian Lazar, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Romania. In their speeches, they talked about the history of the Turkmen carpet and carpet weaving, its role in world culture, emphasizing the importance of developed cultural ties between the two countries. In addition, the speakers noted the inclusion of the „National Carpet Art of Turkmenistan” in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2019.
At the end of the performances, the guests were shown short videos about the history and peculiarities of Turkmen carpet weaving.
During the exhibition of the national and cultural heritage of Turkmenistan, which was located in the exhibition hall of the above-mentioned museum, the participants of the event were able to see colorful photographs about Turkmenistan, hand-made carpets, national clothes, national musical instruments, handicrafts and embroidery, also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the scientific works of the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan.
Furthermore, the participants were able to taste national Turkmen dishes.
