On July 14, 2022, a briefing on the results of the VI Caspian Summit, as well as the upcoming high-level events in Ashgabat in the field of transport was organized at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania. The briefing was attended by the representatives of local media and public relations specialists of the relevant organizations.

During the briefing, participants were acquainted with the results of the VI Caspian Summit organized on July 29, 2022 in Ashgabat with the participation of the Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan. In particular, with the reached agreements, the plans for joint activities, the commitment of the parties to the further development of cooperation in the political, economic, and humanitarian aspects, and the inviolability of the principles of interaction between the parties in the Caspian Sea.

In the context of the growing role of the Caspian region in the formation of new and improvement of existing international transport and transit routes along the North-South and East-West corridors, it was noted that the countries of the region made a huge effort in the formation of the appropriate infrastructure. Using the example of Turkmenistan, progress in the development of the transport and communication system at the country level, as well as the regional level through the international initiatives of Turkmenistan were demonstrated visually with the relevant data and video materials.

While mentioning the active interaction of the Asian, Central Asian, Caspian, Caucasian regions, attention was focused on the existence of the necessary potential for fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation in this area and with the EU countries as well, in particular through the Caspian Sea – Black Sea corridor.

Also, related to the international initiatives of Turkmenistan in the field of transport, it was noted about the fruitful cooperation of our country within the framework of the UN and its specialized agencies, a vivid example of which is the upcoming Ministerial Transport Conference for Landlocked Developing Countries scheduled to be held in Ashgabat on August 15-16, 2022.

It was also noted about the International Conference „International transport and transit corridors: interconnectedness and development”, organizing by the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan in hybrid format on July 18-19, 2022, during which will be given a good opportunity to the representatives of the transport sector for discussion and exchange of views on the issues of improving the transport interconnectedness of countries to revive the former activity of trade operations.
